NYFW – Day 5 report

Ladies and gentlemen here is our NYFW Day 5 recap! We have made it past the halfway point! On Day 5 our team was once  again all over the city of Manhattan. We started together at Lincoln Center in the morning, but by the afternoon, Craig and Arielle were offsite at BlacMera for an interview and Shalanda headed to the Alice & Olivia presentation in the meat-packing district. Finishing up the evening, Arielle attended the 9pm show by Libertine, back at Lincoln Center.  Throughout the day we ran into multiple celebrities from world-renowned photographer Nigel Barker to Paris Hilton!  Here’s our trend report from Day 5 of New York Fashion Week.

FIT – Just when we thought everyone was going with a looser fit, outside of  Lubov and Max Azria’s Herve Leger collections, we have discovered another runway collection by Falguni & Shane Peacock that also love to show off the curves of the female form.  Despite Falguni and Shane, the majority of collections show yesterday still featured A-line skirts, fit and flare silhouettes and asymmetrical hems.  Pamella Roland favored the high-low, asymmetrical hem for a lot of her garments from dresses to tops. Short in the front, long in the back.

FABRIC: Sheers, Sheen, & Vinyl.  Falguni had fun placements of sheers in their collections, and Cesar Galindo played with shimmer in his dresses for his CZAR collection. Pamella Roland showcased a cape jacket that looked like it would be perfect for a rainy day!  Shiny fabrics like taffeta and lame seem to be a popular choice over the last few days, especially in the Libertine Collection.

COLOR:  The BlacMera collection showed off a beautiful array of garments in yellow and blue.  Yellow and purple are the complimentary color pairings, but Yuliana’s pairings were perfect for each other! The right shades of yellow to pair with blue.  Black and white were still popular color choices in collections that weren’t print heavy like Pamella Roland and Alice & Olivia. Collection with tons of print were more colorful, like Libertine & Falguni & Shane Peacock.

PATTERN & PRINT: As always lots of print and mixing print on the runways, especially at Falguni & Shane  and Libertine.  Stripes and big patterned prints were used on the Pamella Roland runway.  Alice & Oliva focused on prints similar to houndstooth, etc.
